SCREAMIN METAL (EGGS OVER EASY PLEASE)

Iron Maiden - Pelted With Eggs On Stage, Called A Prick By Sharon Osbourne At San Bernardino Ozzfest
This past Saturday's Ozzfest, marking the last day that headliners IRON MAIDEN will take the stage, will go down as one of metal's most remembered moments, with much yet to come. The following report was posted by OnTrackMagazine.com:
"Last night's(Sunday night) headlining performance of IRON MAIDEN at Ozzfest in San Bernardino CA rendered some interesting if not disturbing results. Although MAIDEN played one hell of a show they were under attack from the moment they began their set. From the time they hit the stage they suffered power loss on at least three occasions and they were continuously pelted with ice, bottle caps, and eggs among other things. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson was even spit on by one attendee. He seemed to believe these occurrences were not by accident and insinuated that they had been planned from the beginning of the night. He also encouraged the other audience members to break the arm of anyone that they saw throwing things their way. Upon concluding their performance the Emcee for the evening began to chant Ozzy, Ozzy while Bruce was still speaking. Bruce retaliated by chanting MAIDEN. After he left the stage Sharon Osbourne took over the mic and informed the crowd that they absolutely loved IRON MAIDEN and their crew and stated that they were all wonderful but that their singer Bruce Dickinson was a prick and had disrespected Ozzfest since they began their stint with the touring summer festival. This of course came as a shock to those of us in attendance and the there was ample confusion and speculation from audience members there after. As previously announced last night's show marked the final performance of IRON MAIDEN on this year's Ozzfest. VELVET REVOLVER will be taking over their slot on the last remaining dates."
Many reports from fan's accounts of the show also show suspect that Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Sharon and Ozzy, may have participated in the attack.
Sharon Osbourne has posted the following message on the Ozzfest.com website:
"IRON MAIDEN were chosen for the Ozzfest tour because the Ozzfest committee felt they were a good band, plus the fact that they had not done shows in the U.S. for some time. From day one, Bruce Dickinson started berating Ozzy and belittling the Ozzfest audience. He stated he"didn’t need a reality show to give him credibility"; "we're not just some f*cking reunion band"; and continuously complained about the sound system, saying that when he comes back to America he’ll have a better one. I understand he hasn’t toured in the U.S.in these size venues in a while and no longer understands the political structure of things. Out of 200- plus bands over the last 10 years, he has been the only person who hasn’t had the Ozzfest spirit. He thought he was at a battle of the bands, always making other comments about the other artists.
Might I say, the rest of the band are gentlemen and have a great professional attitude. The crew are absolutely great. But how sad it was, after 10 years, that this little man tried to ruin it for everyone. The bands of Ozzfest don’t even look at Ozzfest as touring, but as its heavy metal summer camp. Bruce is in fact a jealous prick and very envious. None of his tirades were directed at SABBATH, only Ozzy. Steve Harris [IRON MAIDEN's bassist] personally came to Ozzy in San Bernardino and apologized for Bruce’s behavior this summer, stating that he and the rest of the band were "embarrassed" by their own singer. It also offended me every night how he took out the English flag in America. There are American boys going to war alongside the English boys every day. How dare he forget the American troops on their home turf. He has had no respect for the American audience he has been playing for, stating in an interview, "When you do the 'hits' tour here [in the U.S.], the audience is smug, and there's a sense of self-satisfaction, like, 'We got what we wanted…I'm looking at an audience that is self-satisfied and happy and fat, and getting what it wants and isn't prepared to get off its ass.."
Before there was Samson there was SABBATH!
Ozzfest 2005 continues on with our summer of fun with the addition of VELVET REVOLVER This is where the fun begins….. "
In response, the following message has been posted on IRON MAIDEN's official website:
"IRON MAIDEN wish to thank all the 45,000 Metal fans at Ozzfest in San Bernardino on Saturday night for sticking with us and giving us such a great response at the end of a difficult set. It was obvious to all there that we had a 'series of unfortunate events' throughout! These made it difficult for us to keep our momentum but your incredible support certainly helped us get through it. We guess it all adds up to a pretty memorable gig though!!!
This is, however, a Metal Festival. It is supposed to be fun for all. You fans pay very good money to be there and deserve to get a full and unhindered performance from all the bands. This was not the case last night.
So with this rather bizarre end to a good tour we are returning to the UK today for the Leeds and Reading Festivals and once again thanks to all of you who came out to see us these last few weeks.
FROM IRON MAIDEN
...
More later"
No comment has been made by Bruce Dickinson himself, as of yet.
Ozzy Osbourne - "You Haven't Heard the Last of Me" - Public Statement
OZZY OSBOURNE has issued a compassionate statement to his fans, stating his plans for the future:
"After 10 years, I've decided that this year will be my last as the headlining act on Ozzfest. The Ozzfest is well-established now and I feel it's time for me to hand the reigns off to someone else. However, I will be performing at a few select Ozzfest shows next year."
"Despite the rumors, I don't have permanent throat problems. The truth is that after 11 straight summers on the road, I would just love to finally take a summer holiday with my wife."
You haven't heard the last from me.
God bless, Ozzy."
The members of Slipknot are ready to have it their way--and that means the masked metal mavens want to shut down a new Burger King marketing campaign.
Earlier this month, Slipknot ordered its minions in the legal department to fire off a cease and desist letter to Burger King executives and their advertising agency, threatening a trademark-infringement lawsuit over a series of ads hawking the chain's new Chicken Fries and featuring a band bearing a remarkable resemblance to the Grammy-nominated outfit.
SLIPKNOT vs. B K In the spots, currently airing on such networks as MTV, VH1 and Spike TV, the fictional band Coq Roq is decked out in masks similar to those worn by Slipknot and performs such ditties as "Bob Your Head" and "Cross the Road" in an effort to persuade head-banging foodies to make a beeline to the nearest BK for the newfangled delicacy, which are fried chicken strips with dipping sauce. BK also launched a Website, CoqRoq.com, touting the band and its music.
"It is obvious that the television advertising and Website are designed to conjure up the image and persona of a live performance of Slipknot," writes band attorney Howard Weitzman in an Aug. 4 letter, a copy of which is available online at the Smoking Gun, which first reported the story. Weitzman notes that Coq Roq's getups include "a gas mask as worn by Slipknot's Sid Wilson, a kabuki-style mask as worn by Slipknot's Joey Jordison, and a mask with dreads as worn by Slipknot's Cory Taylor."
The lawyer claims that the resemblance "is no coincidence." He says that Burger King's parent company had contacted the band's label, Roadrunner Records, in September 2004 to recruit the band for an "adversitising campaign designed to motivate young people to vote." BK wanted to use Slipknot's "loud voice" to tap into the prized demographic, Weitzman writes, claiming that some fans have already confused the fake band with the real Slipknot. He demands the fast-food purveyors pull all Coq Roq-related material from TV and the Internet.
But Burger King attorneys cried fowl, er, foul, and have made the high-stakes game of chicken literally into a federal case. The fast-food chain filed suit against the band and its merchandising company last Friday in U.S. District Court in Florida, seeking to have a judge declare the Coq Roq campaign kosher.
"The Coq Roq band is a mock heavy metal band that is markedly and obviously different from Slipknot except for the generic fact that both play heavy metal music and wear masks," reads the lawsuit, also obtained by the Smoking Gun.
The apparently hip BK counsel goes on to name check several other metal bands who wear masks whilst they bang their heads, including KISS , Marilyn Manson, Mudvayne, Gwar, Mushroomhead, Los Straightjackets, the Insane Clown Posse and the Spits.
Burger King legal reps are also asking a judge to have Slipknot reimburse the food chain's legal fees.
No response yet from the Slipknot camp, but we're guessing the band's lawyers are getting ready to tell BK to cluck off.

The webmaster for Swedish guitar hero YNGWIE MALMSTEEN has posted the following update at his official website:
Well, things have quieted down a bit since the end of Yngwie's European Unleash the Fury Tour, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been busy. Recently he's been in New York, and on the phone, doing promotions for the USA release of UTF. Keep on the lookout for a bunch of magazine articles and features in the near future. Watch for a major feature story from Guitar Player, and pick up the October 2005 Swedish Metal Invasion issue of Revolver, where senior writer Joe Lalaina gets Yngwie to reveal his picks for the best/worst of movies, food, places to tour, and so on. Yngwie's choice of best movie may surprise you (no, it isn't Re-Animator). Yes, Yngwie will be touring the USA, and yes, the band will be playing more songs from Unleash the Fury. No, we don't have the schedule yet, so please bookmark the touring page at http://www.yngwie.org/touring/2005/index.html There's a new Yngwie forum you may want to check out at http://malmsteen.proboards50.com/
