AND FROM THE ROCK SOAP OPERA "AS VAN HALEN TURNS".
Van Halen - DLR Reunion Only "...A Matter of Time" According to Billboard.com, reuniting the original VAN HALEN lineup is just a matter of time, according to former vocalist David Lee Roth.
"I talked to the drummer (Alex Van Halen) about a week ago," the band's former lead singer told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. "And I think, eventually, the inevitable will happen."
"It definitely won't be rockers with walkers," he added, seemingly indicating that a reunion is in the near, as opposed to distant, future. "Getting onstage and singing 'Dance the Night Away' -- let me tell you how difficult that isn't going to be." New York Post is reporting that a source close to VAN HALEN says former singer David Lee Roth is deluding himself about replacing Sammy Hagar. "He might have talked to Alex [Van Halen, drums], but it's going to be a cold day in hell before he ever rejoins the band," an insider tells The New York Post.
Despite rumors of a possible collaboration with Rick Rubin (SLAYER, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLIPKNOT), METALLICA have no plans of working with anyone else but their longtime producer Bob Rock on their upcoming studio album, the group's drummer Lars Ulrich revealed in a September 2005 interview published in the brand-new issue of METALLICA's fan club magazine, So What! Report: Miner's Wife Hopes Prayers And METALLICA Will Jolt Him Out Of Coma - Jan. 6, 2006 Gary Gately of The New York Times has issued the following report:
Anna McCloy went to Wal-Mart on Friday, bought a METALLICA CD and a boom box to play for her husband, Randal McCloy Jr., the sole survivor of the West Virginia mine disaster. Though he remained in a medically induced coma, Mrs. McCloy figured that blasting his favorite heavy-metal band in his hospital room could help revive him.
That, along with plenty of prayers and the knowledge that his wife and two children love him and need him, will help him pull through, Mrs. McCloy said at a news conference. Occasionally smiling and laughing, she added that she found strength in faith and had no doubt that he would recover.
"It's amazing, it's a miracle," she said of his survival. "Faith plays a big role. Without it, we wouldn't be coping. It's given us hope." Mr. McCloy, 26, of Simpson, survived more than 40 hours in the Sago disaster that killed 12 fellow miners with carbon monoxide intoxication, the medical examiner said. As families began planning funerals for some co-workers, Mr. McCloy remained in critical condition and had two treatments of hyperbaric oxygen. Doctors hope that will help his brain recover from the effects of a lack of oxygen. Dr. Richard Shannon, chairman of medicine at Allegheny General Hospital, said Mr. McCloy's heart and kidney function and muscle injuries had improved. But he continued to have serious inflammation of the left lung, and doctors will not know the extent of brain damage until he is out of the coma. Sworn Enemy - Hitting The Road With Six Feet Under SWORN ENEMY vocalist Sal has confirmed to SMNnews.com that the band plans the hit the road with SIX FEET UNDER this spring. Dates for that tour are still to be announced. Before that tour and after their tour with ANTHRAX, SWORN ENEMY will stay on the road, providing direct support for GOD FORBID.
