GUNS N' ROSES And METALLICA To Play U.K.'s DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL?
Will GUNS N' ROSES's classic lineup and METALLICA perform at this year's Download Festival? Legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin seems to think so. According to a February 3, 2006 posting on Halfin's official web site, "the original lineup [of GUNS N' ROSES] is supposed to play Download in June with their metal chums, METALLICA, if Lars [Ulrich, METALLICA drummer] can be bothered to turn up." This year's installment of the Download Festival is set to take place June 9-11 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, England. Confirmed acts so far include THE PRODIGY, TRIVIUM and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, with the full lineup expected to be around 100 rock bands over the three days, according to eFestivals.co.uk. Tickets went on sale on February 3, priced at £110 for the three days, or £135 including camping and parking. Campervans cost £35, and parking is £5 in advance or £10 on the day.

TOMMY LEE Assaulted At Detroit's SHADY BOWL SUPER PARTY? - Feb. 6, 2006
AllHipHop.com is reporting that MOTLEY CRUE drummer Tommy Lee "got punched in his mouth" at the Shady Bowl Super Party at the State Theatre in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 4. According to the report, "the assault is/was on videotape."
Although details are sketchy on this alleged physical confrontation, a BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor claims that he saw Lee "get the crap beat out of him by [a local rapper and his] crew after Lee was openly dissing Detroit's own Kid Rock [Tommy's ex-wife Pamela Anderson]. They really pounded him like a snare drum! Tommy Lee was supposed to DJ at the Penthouse magazine party later that night but I guess he was a no-show."
There has been no word regarding the extent of Lee's injuries assuming that the assault did, in fact, take place.

The Who - Daltrey and Townshend Plan New Album, World Tour
THE WHO are set to record their first album in nearly 25 years, and will back it up with a full world tour complete with several festival appearances. Pete Townshend, one of the two surviving original members along with Roger Daltrey, said on his website: "There will be a tour. We already have European festival dates slotted in June and July." The original bassist, John Entwistle, died of a heart attack in 2002.
A British and European tour will be followed by an American leg in the autumn and the rest of the world in 2007. The band is believed to be negotiating to play at Scotland's T in the Park. Townshend also said he would deliver the new studio album - The Who's first since It's Hard in 1982. The singer-songwriter and guitarist said: "There will be a new CD sometime in the early summer. I know I've cried wolf a few times, but this time I have committed."
Mushroomhead - More Headlining Tour Dates Released
More dates have been released for MUSHROOMHEAD's upcoming tour with GIZMACHI:
March 25 - Detroit, MI @ Harpo's March 26 - Grand Rapids, MI @ The Intersection
The video for the next single from AVENGED SEVENFOLD's "City Of Evil" album, "Beast And The Harlot", debuted yesterday (Monday, February 6) on MTV and MTV2.
The official DISTURBED message board has been shut down by the administrators, allegedly because the group's frontman, David Draiman, grew increasingly tired of the persistent criticism levelled at him over his seemingly contradictory statements regarding the band's possible appearance at this year's Ozzfest. They're garbage," he replied. "I haven't said anything to anybody. I'm not saying it isn't happening, but I haven't gotten any official confirmation myself. Some radio station in Seattle decided to speculate or something. Every radio station interview that I've done at the station though has been with the whole band, and they've heard me every single time, and I've never said anything like that. We're in talks with them, but nothing has been solidified."
Voivod Back In The Studio
From FMQB
Voivod drummer Michel "Away" Langevin has commenced work on the drum tracks for the bands forthcoming studio album. It will be the first album in Voivods 20+ year career that will not include the studio work of founding guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, who passed away on August 26 from complications of advanced colon cancer. However, Away, singer "Snake" Belanger and bassist Jason Newsted are utilizing guitar parts that Piggy recorded on his laptop with ProTools before his death. The band is also working with producer Glen Robinson, who produced Voivods Nothingface, at Piccolo Studios in Montreal. The new effort should surface sometime later this year on The End Records.
